Icefiends are native to the frozen wastelands of the Fremennik Isles. They are resilient creatures that have adapted to survive in the harshest of conditions. As the name suggests, they are creatures of ice, often found lurking around the icy caverns and dungeons.
Gear Setup
- Weapon: Icefiends have high Magic defense, so it’s recommended to use Ranged or Magic for this task. A blowpipe with Rune darts or a Magic shortbow with Rune arrows can work well.
- Armor: Wear armor with decent defensive bonuses. If using Magic, Mystic or Ahrim’s robes are suitable. If ranging, Karil’s crossbow can be a good choice.
- Prayer: Protect from Melee prayer is advised to reduce incoming damage.
- Food: Bring high-healing food like sharks, anglerfish, or Saradomin brews, as you may encounter PKers or other dangerous monsters in the Wilderness.
- Teleport Items: It’s wise to carry teleport items (e.g., Amulet of Glory, Ectophial) for a quick escape if needed.
Location:
Icefiends can be found on the bottom floor of the Ice Plateau in the Wilderness, which is located at level 53-56 Wilderness. This area is relatively remote and is usually not very crowded.
Killing Icefiends:
- Equip your chosen gear, and head to the Ice Plateau in the Wilderness.
- Attack the Icefiends using your preferred combat style (Ranged or Magic). Use Protect from Melee prayer to reduce damage from them.
- Be cautious of your surroundings, as the Wilderness can be dangerous due to the presence of PKers. Stay alert and ready to teleport away if necessary.
- Collect the drops. Icefiends drop various items, including ancient staff shards, runes, and other valuable items.
Icefiend Drops:
Icefiends have several drops, including:
- Ancient staff shard 1, 2, or 3: These shards can be combined to create the Ancient Staff.
- Blood runes, death runes, and law runes.
- Coins.
- Fire orbs (used in making battlestaves).
Additional Tips:
- Icefiends are often killed for the chance of obtaining ancient staff shards. When you have a full staff, you can use it to autocast the Ancient Magicks spellbook.
- When fighting Icefiends in the Wilderness, always be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on other players. Be prepared to escape if PKers or other threats approach.
- Don’t carry valuable items with you when venturing into the Wilderness, as there is a risk of losing them to PKers.
Killing Icefiends can be profitable, especially if you manage to obtain the ancient staff shards.
